Police say a Wilson man has been charged with four counts of attempted murder and 34 other firearms-related charges in three separate April shootings at three locations.
One case resulted in a man being hospitalized after being shot in the stomach.
Dvonte Shykeem Lucas, 26, was arrested Monday, according to three releases from Sgt. Eric McInerny, public information officer at the Wilson Police Department.
Lucas made a first appearance on 38 felony charges Tuesday in Wilson County District Court on in front of District Judge Joseph E. Brown III.
The shootings stem from cases on Birchwood Drive, Park Avenue and Carolina Street.
At 2:02 p.m. on April 25, Wilson police responded to a report of gunshots in the area of Snowden Drive and Birchwood Drive off Old Stantonsburg Road.
“Officers arrived on scene and located the victim, Shaikim Sherron Barnes, 19, of Wilson, suffering from a gunshot wound to the abdomen,” McInerny said.
Barnes was taken to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville by ambulance.
McInerny said Lucas was identified as the suspect in the shooting on May 3.
“Officers obtained warrants on Lucas for one count of attempted first-degree murder, one count of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury and one count of possession of a firearm by a felon,” McInerny said.
A day after the Birchwood Drive shooting, at 9:21 p.m. on April 26, officers were called to another report of shots fired on the 800 block of Park Avenue.
“As officers arrived on scene, they located several shell casings in the roadway,” McInerny said. “There were no reports of property damage or injuries during the incident.”
On Friday, officers obtained warrants for Lucas’ arrest in the Park Avenue shooting. For that case, Lucas was charged with three counts of discharging a weapon from an enclosure and two counts of possession of a firearm by a felon.
At 8:50 p.m. on April 29, Wilson police officers responded to Carolina Street after a report that shots had been fired into a home.
“Officers arrived on scene and located several shell casings and projectiles in the roadway between the 1100 block and 1300 block,” McInerny said. “It was determined that at least two occupied residences and one unoccupied vehicle were struck during the incident.”
There were no reports of injuries.
In connection with this case, Lucas was charged with 18 counts of discharging a weapon from an enclosure, three counts each of attempted first-degree murder and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, two counts of discharging a weapon into an occupied dwelling and one count each of possession of a firearm by a felon and causing injury to personal property.
Lucas remains in the Wilson County Detention Center without bond.

Lucas has a prior conviction for carrying a concealed weapon and has served two stints in state prison, according to the N.C. Department of Public Safety website.
