Police have arrested an 18-year-old accused of fatally stabbing another young woman in a parking lot between two Wilson businesses.

Tajahya Danyale Applewhite of Wilson faces an open count of murder in Trinity Williams’ death, according to Capt. Steve Stroud of the Wilson Police Department. Stroud said Applewhite turned herself in to officers.

Williams, 19, was stabbed Monday night in the parking lot between the Westview Lanes bowling alley and Sammy’s Convenient Mart. Police say she died of her injuries at the scene.

Williams was a student at the Wilson Academy of Applied Technology, a five-year early college high school. Family members and friends held a vigil and balloon release to honor her memory Thursday afternoon.

Applewhite was booked into the Wilson County Detention Center without bond pending arraignment on the murder charge.

Police say the stabbing remains under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call the Wilson Police Department at 252-399-2323. To provide anonymous tips, call Crime Stoppers at 252-243-2255.
