A man in a hoodie and surgical mask used a gun to rob a Circle K convenience store in Wilson on Wednesday.

Police responded to a 4:43 a.m. robbery at the 2877 Ward Blvd. store, according to a release from Sgt. Eric McInerny, public information officer for the Wilson Police Department.

The business is located at a corner with Brentwood Drive North on the northern side of the city.

“When officers arrived, they spoke to the clerk who stated that an unknown Black male entered the store and demanded money,” McInerny said. “The suspect was described as a Black male wearing a green hoodie and a surgical mask, possibly armed with a handgun.”

McInerny said the robber stole an unknown amount of cash before fleeing the store.

The clerk on duty at the time of the robbery was not harmed.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Wilson Police Department at 252-399-2323 or Crime Stoppers at 252-243-2255.
