REMBERT, S.C. — Leslie Galloway “LG” Newcomb, 84, died Jan. 8, 2021, at his home.
He was the son of the late Leslie Newcomb and Margaret Parris Newcomb of Statonsburg. Known in his youth for his ability to hoist a tractor, he went on to enlist in the U.S. Air Force and served 20 years in active service. Upon his retirement from the military in 1974, he settled in Rembert, South Carolina, and embarked on a second career as a court reporter.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Minnie Lee Rogers Newcomb; son, Francis “Frank” Leslie Newcomb; and his best squirrel dog, Rhino.
He is survived by a daughter, Rachel Newcomb (Ken) of Ridgeway, South Carolina; two sisters; two brothers; two grandchildren, Kyra Dahlgren (Dan) and Kaitlin Shaw (Justin); and two great-grandchildren, Dan and Kameron Dahlgren.
