Insurance commissioner to address Wilson County GOP

N.C. Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey will speak during the Wilson County Republican Party’s monthly social at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 27, at the Elks Lodge, 2814 Fieldstream Drive.

Admission is free and a $10 donation is requested. Appetizers and tea will be provided. A cash bar will also be available.

Church plans grocery giveaway

LUCAMA — Temple Dream Center of Wilson will hold a grocery giveaway at 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 30, at New Life Free Will Baptist Church, 7369 U.S. 301, Lucama.

Bowling for Recovery benefit slated

The Flynn Christian Fellowship Home will hold its third annual Bowling for Recovery fundraiser from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, July 31, at Westview Lanes on Ward Boulevard.

The benefit bowlathon will include a silent auction and 50/50 raffle. Organizers say all proceeds will support the Flynn Christian Fellowship Home. Checks can be made out to FCFH, P.O. Box 744, Wilson, NC 27893.

Agency recruiting Head Start teachers

ROCKY MOUNT — Nash, Edgecombe, Wilson Community Action is seeking early childhood educators for its Head Start program and will hold a career information session from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 2, at 200 N. Church St.

Hospice agency seeks volunteers

3HC Home Health and Hospice is looking for volunteers to help in the Wilson County area. Administrators say volunteers should be compassionate and be willing to care for others and provide relief to regular caregivers.
