Murder suspect Adrian Tynrell Horne was captured Wednesday afternoon, ending a full day on the lam after a violent attack that left two people dead and two others wounded.

Wilson County Sheriff Calvin Woodard and several deputies escorted Horne from a black pickup truck and walked him into the sheriff’s office shortly after 3:30 p.m. Wednesday. Horne was handcuffed and wearing leg shackles and walked quietly with the officials.

Authorities say 43-year-old Horne shot and killed his girlfriend, 44-year-old Latasha Tennill Tomlin, and her son, 21-year-old Raekwon Tyleek Williams. Both died from multiple gunshot wounds, according to Wanda Samuel, sheriff’s office chief of staff.

Samuel said Horne also shot Tomlin’s daughter, 18-year-old Fredria Williams, who was listed in critical condition late Wednesday.

Horne was apprehended around 2:30 p.m. in a Goldsboro mobile home park.

Deputies learned where Horne was hiding around 8 a.m. Wednesday, Samuel said.

“The Wilson County Sheriff’s Office sent a team of investigators to Wayne County, and an apprehension plan was put into place,” she said in a news release. “Horne was believed to be at the Tanglewood Mobile Home Park located inside of Goldsboro.”

The SBI Violent Crime Apprehension Team, Goldsboro Police Department and Wayne County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant at 3201 Central Heights Road, Lot 200.

“Horne was given commands to come out of the residence; he complied with those commands and came out with his hands up and laid down on the ground and was taken into custody,” Samuel said. “Horne was transported back to the Wilson County Sheriff’s Office by our deputies that were already in Wayne County at the time he was taken into custody.”

Authorities say they seized two handguns during the search.

Two people, including the homeowner, were inside the home.

“Adrian Horne was taken into custody without incident, and no injuries occurred during the search,” Samuel said.

Woodard said he appreciates the support his office received from law enforcement partners.

“We had assistance from the Edgecombe County Sheriff’s Office, N.C. State Highway Patrol, Wilson Police Department, SBI VCAT Unit, Goldsboro Police Department and Wayne County Sheriff’s Office. Their support, intelligence sharing and resources were extraordinary. Every agency involved was dedicated to serving justice for the family and for the Wilson County community,” he said. “Mr. Horne was armed and dangerous and now he has been removed from the community, and he will no longer be able to harm anyone else.”

On the day of the shooting, deputies said investigators received information that Horne had been seen in a GMC sport utility vehicle in Edgecombe County. Sheriff’s deputies there temporarily closed a road outside Macclesfield and assisted Wilson deputies in the manhunt.

“We tirelessly worked throughout the night obtaining information from our law enforcement partners to bring this criminal to justice,” Woodard said before Horne’s capture on Wednesday. “Our objectives are to locate and arrest this criminal and bring closure to the family. We are utilizing all available personnel, intelligence resources and technology to ensure his apprehension for these senseless murders. We will continue to pray for the family and our community during this time.”

Horne is charged with two counts of first-degree murder, four counts of discharging a weapon into an occupied vehicle causing serious injury and one count each of discharging a weapon into an occupied vehicle, first-degree kidnapping, larceny of a motor vehicle and trafficking cocaine.

Horne and Tomlin were dating and shared a home on London Church Road between Wilson and Elm City, Samuel said. Tomlin was found dead in Edgecombe County in the black Buick that Horne drove while fleeing from Wilson County.

Tomlin’s son was found dead Tuesday at the London Church Road home.

Deputies say Horne and Tomlin got into an argument at the home, and Tomlin was in the process of leaving him.

“It has been stated that the victims were at the London Church Road home to assist Latasha Tomlin with leaving,” Samuel said.

Raekwon Williams’ live-in girlfriend, 18-year-old Lakiyah Williams, was shot in the back but is now recovering at home, Samuel said. She’s since been reunited with her 8-month-old baby, who was also taken from the London Church Road home.

Horne’s brother, 40-year-old Timothy Robert Horne of Wilson, has been charged with four counts of acting as an accessory after the fact of first-degree murder for picking up his brother on Tuesday, Samuel said. He’s jailed under a $250,000 secured bond.
