Temperatures are forecast to remain well above our historical averages this weekend, but major relief arrives Monday.

Afternoon highs in the mid 90s Saturday and around 90 on Sunday will easily best the low 80s average.  Overnight Saturday and Sunday lows in the low 70s likewise exceed the low 60s average.

By Monday and Tuesday, though, the arrival of a cold front that will stall nearby takes highs both days to the mid-70s. Overnight lows are expected to drop to near 60.

Heat and increasingly unstable air give us a 30% chance of a late Saturday thunderstorm.  The approach of that cold front Sunday pushes chances to 40% and then to 60% Monday with the front’s crossing. Winds will move from the southwest to the northeast.

As of this posting, it appears the front will linger close enough to put shower chances at 30% Tuesday and Wednesday. A wind shift back to the south Wednesday should help afternoon temperatures make it into the 82- to 84-degree range.

Skies are likely to be partly cloudy throughout the period except for mostly cloudy conditions Monday.
