MEBANE — The Wilson Christian boys golf team wrapped up its season at the North Carolina Christian Schools Association State Golf Tournament Thursday, finishing sixth among seven teams.

The Chargers shot a team score of 416 at the event, which also included Faith Christian of Ramseur, Alamance Christian, Camerton Christian, Tabernacle Hickory Christian, Wilmington Christian and Gospel Light. Faith Christian won the event with a team score of 354.

In the individual tournament, WCA’s Brayden Joyner shot a 90 and finished eighth, earning All-State honors for the second straight year.

Greenfield falls NCISAA second round

The Greenfield boys tennis team’s season came to an end with a 5-2 loss to Westchester Country Day in the second round of the North Carolina Independent Schools Association playoffs Thursday.

Lawson O’Hara grabbed a win in singles for the 1-A Knights (11-3) of the 1-A/2-A Coastal Plains Independents Conference, and RJ Shealy and Porter Wells notched a doubles victory against the 2-A Wildcats of the Piedmont Triad Athletic Conference.
