The British Invaders will play at Gig in the Park on Thursday, May 5, at the Vollis Simpson Whirligig Park.

Gig in the Park has two May concerts that will be sure to draw the crowds.

British Invaders, a top British band tribute, will perform at Whirlgig Park on Thursday, May 5.

Breakfast Club will play May 19. The band plays the best of the 1980s and ’90s.

Wilson Downtown Development and the Vollis Simpson Whirligig Park and Museum organize the five-concert concert series that started in April and runs every other Thursday evening through June 16. Concerts are 6:30-9:30 p.m.

The free event — made possible by presenting sponsor Wilson Energy and additional nightly, community and downtown sponsors — is a fundraiser for the two non-profits to support additional events and programming throughout the year.

There will be a variety of food trucks at the event as well as cold beverages for the adults and activities for the kids,.

TapSnap photo booth will be on-site for selfie fun on May 19.

Those attending should take a chair or blanket and an ID to purchase beer and wine or cash or card for food and drink. Leave outside beverages and coolers at home.

Check ExploreWilson.com after 10 a.m. on concert day in case of inclement weather.

Information on individual concerts is found online on the Historic Downtown Wilson and Vollis Simpson Whirligig Park Facebook events and at HistoricDowntownWilson.com/events.
