Kids get creative in spring break camps

Wilson Arts is offering two spring break camps April 18-22. Preregistration is required.

 A lunch bunch child care option is offered for an extra fee. 

To enroll, visit www.wilsonarts.com/creative-kids and register online, call Wilson Arts at 252-291-4329 or visit the Wilson Arts Center during normal business hours, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday-Saturday.

Classes will take place at the Edna Boykin Cultural Center in Hammond Gallery.

The Art of Fashion

9 a.m. to noon

For grades K-12

Kids will explore a variety of image transfer techniques including screen printing and heat press with instructor Greg Boseman. They will begin by learning about the design process and finish by creating their own unique, wearable art. Each camper will take home one-of-a-kind creations on T-shirts and more. All materials are provided. Cost is $65-$75.

Comic Art 

1-4 p.m.

For grades 3-12

Instructor Louis Small Jr. is an accomplished comic book artist and has been teaching the art of comic drawing locally for many years. He has also taught drawing for the Visual Arts Academy series for Wilson Arts and has facilitated popular past summer camps. Small will be walking participants through the basics of comic illustration and character/story-line development. All materials are provided. Cost is $65-$75.
