The Wilson County Public Library Summer Reading Program is June 18 to Aug. 13 and includeds both in-person and virtual programs.

“Oceans of Possibilities” is the theme of this year’s Wilson County Public Library Summer Reading Program from June 18 to Aug. 13.

Staff from all library locations have prepared a variety of in-person and virtual programs and reading incentives for children, teens and adults.

The kickoff is 1-5 p.m. Saturday, June 18, at the main library on Nash Street in Wilson. Enjoy face painting, aquatic balloon animals, a sea-themed photo booth and crafts for all ages.

Crafts for youth will include creating colorful jellyfish, crabs and fish for a home “aquarium.” Adults and teens can paint inspirational bookmarks.

Outreach educators from the N.C. Aquarium at Fort Fisher will share their new book, “If I Could Be a Sea Creature.” The educators will have a surprise ocean ambassador animal with them.

Refreshments will be served.

Costumes are encouraged but not required.

Those who want to participate in the reading program can visit http://wilsoncountypl.readsquared.com to register and track their progress with READsquared beginning June 18. Paper registration forms and reading logs will be available for individuals preferring to participate offline. Incentives and prizes will be awarded for participation in the program and for completed reading logs.

Specific programs are planned this summer, and many of the standing programs will follow the Ocean of Possibilities theme. For a more detailed list of events, visit wideawakenc.com or check with the library.
