It’s time to register for summer camps

Children have lots of options when it comes to summer camps this year. 



They can try something new or work on their basketball skills, learn how to dance, act on stage and so much more. 

WILSON ARTS

Visual Arts classes begin June 13-17 with Play, Paint, Party; Funky Flower Power; and My Artistic Self. June 20-24, kids can take Summer Art Escape, Funky Flower Power No. 2 and Fashion Forward Eco Design. Classes continue June 27-July 1 with My Artistic Self and Wear Your Imagination. July 11-15, campers will take Imagine It. Sculpt It; Wild Things: Mixed Media Mania; and Comic Art No. 1. Camps July 18-22 are The Art Express and Comic Art No. 2. 

Wilson Arts also offers a lineup of performing arts camps this summer. Roald Dahl’s “Willy Wonka Kids, The Musical” Camp is June 20 to July 1. Campers will give a performance on July 1. Disney’s “Jungle Book Kids, The Musical” will be presented by campers on July 22. That camp runs July 18-22. Disney’s “Camp Rock, The Musical” Camp is July 25-29. Performance is July 29.

Wilson Tobs

Tobs Youth Summer Baseball Camps provide advanced baseball education for boys and girls in a collegiate baseball environment. All-around camps are June 20-23 and July 25-28, and Pitching and Catching Camp is July 12-13 at Fleming Stadium. Camps for ages 5-12. DEANS FARM

Kids can have fun on the farm this summer. Deans Farm is offering camps for kids ages 3-12 from June 13 to Aug. 11, excluding the week of July 4. Activities will include playground fun, arts and crafts, harvesting, cooking, barrel train rides, farm animal interaction and more. For more information contact deansfarmmarket@yahoo.com.

BARTON BASEBALL

Improve your baseball game and have some fun at this year’s camp, offered June 6-9 at Nixon Field. Softball players are welcome. Camp is for K-8 students. BULLDOGS TENNIS AND PICKLEBALL

Tennis is the primary focus of this camp, but kids (ages 6-18) will also have the opportunity to learn about pickleball. Camps are June 13-16, July 11-14 and Aug. 8-11 at the Barton Tennis Facility. For a camp registration form, visit www.bulldogstennis.org. 

BARTON BASKETBALL 

There are two camp options for boys and girls ages 8-16. Fundamentals Camp is in the mornings on June 20-23 or July 25-28. Shooting Camp is in the afternoons those same weeks. GREENFIELD SCHOOL

Greenfield continues its tradition of summer camps this year with many offerings. FIRST UNITED METHODIST CHURCH

FUMC Weekday School is offering two camps to keep children engaged while having fun this summer. Classes are designed for students age 2 through kindergarten, for the 2022-2023 school year. Dive Into Summer is May 31 to June 3 and includes a week of creativity and fun. Hometown Heroes is July 11-14. In this camp, kids will explore their heroic talents and learn about local heroes. DANCE STUDIO B

The downtown dance studio has a variety of dance and Kindermusik options this summer. 

Hip Hop Dance Intensive is June 20-23. Campers will learn a routine to perform at a Tobs game. Avengers Tumbling Intensive is June 27-30. Campers will perform in the Tobs’ pre-game plaza and between innings. Ballet Intensive and Contemporary/Modern Contemporary Intensive are offered July 5-8. Contemporary dancers can perform at the Tobs Faith and Family Night. “Unconventional Broadway” Musical Theatre Camp is July 11-15. Fairy Fantasy Camp is July 18-21; campers have the opportunity to perform at a Tobs game. Clogging Intensive is July 18-21; campers can dance at Paint the Park Pink Night. Campers at the July 25-28 “Encampo” Dance Camp can also perform at a game.

Kindermusik uses music-making to help children learn and grow. Camps include Zoo Train and On the Road, offered June 13-17; I See You and Tell Me a Story July 18-22; Wide Animal Park and Beach Days Aug.1-5.

HUNTER’S DANCE

HIGHER KNOWLEDGE

POWER BASKETBALL

Powerplex Athletic Center will have camp June 27 to July 1 at the center at 316 Tarboro St. The co-ed groups of kids will be divided between grades K-5 and 6-8. For more information or to register call 252-230-8617.

Wilson ENGINEERING

The Upper Coastal Plain Learning Council, N.C. State University College of Engineering and Wilson Community College will offer Engineering Camp on the campus of WCC’s Lee Technology Campus. Elementary school camp is June 13-17 for rising third to fifth graders. Middle school camp is June 20-24 for rising sixth to ninth graders. Participants will experience engineering through hands-on, creative investigations and designs. SOCCER BOX

Soccer Box will offer three outdoor soccer camps this summer. Premier Camp is June 6-9, Elite Camp June 13-16 and Pro Camp July 18-21. All camps will be held at J. Burt Gillette Athletic Complex. SALLIE B. HOWARD BIOTECHNOLOGY PROGRAM

Students are offered a biotech experience at the June 7-9 camp at the school. Students will build DNA models, extract DNA from organisms and foods, analyze genetic sequences and explore biotech in foods. This is a hands-on laboratory experience for beginner and advanced scientists looking to work in an industry outfitted space. Seventh to 10th graders  are welcome. IMAGINATION STATION

Imagination Station is offering several morning and afternoon camps this summer for kids ages 6-14. Camps June 20-24 are Celebration Around the World and Inventors STEM Camp. June 11-15, kids can take Mad Science and Animal Adventures. For July 25-29, camps are Textile Makers and Castaway Island. Camps Aug. 8-12 are Ancient Engineering STEM and Growing Things. BRICK SCHOLARS

Brick Scholars will be offering classes at Imagination Station this summer. The Magic of Coding with a Harry Potter theme is offered June 13-17 for grades 3-6. The morning camp June 27-July 1 is Early Robotics and Storytelling for grades K-2. The afternoon camp for grades 3-5 is Robotics and Stop Motion Storytelling. Adventures in STEAMpunk Park is July 18-21 for ages 10-14. Maker’s Muse Play All Day is Aug 1-4 for grades pre-K to rising second grade. Classes are also offered in Rocky Mount. B-PAC’s summer day camps are packed with plenty of dance, tumble, arts and crafts for mostly elementary school children, all with fun themes. Dancing Though Disney is June 6-20 and July 18-22. WILSON COUNTY
SHERIFF’S OFFICE

This year’s PATHS Summer Camp is June 20-24. PATHS stands for Providing Alternative Thinking Strategies. Campers will study crime scene investigation with the sheriff’s office’s specialized divisions. PATHS is a community based program developed at the WCSO to prevent gangs, illegal drug use and violence before it starts among young people ages 11-13. Meals are served each day to participants. The SPOT

Summer camp is offered for kids in grades K-8. Camp is offered June 6 to July 22. There is a mandatory orientation for parents and guardians April 29 and May 13 at 6 p.m. SPOT stands for Sharing Positive Outcomes Together. Free week-long camps for kids in grades 3-6 include Sailing Camp and Golf Camp June 13-17 and June 20-24. ART DAZE

Art Daze is offering a variety of morning and afternoon camps this summer for children ages 5-11 at Hunter’s Dance, 2602 Tilghman Road. The popular Color Explosion is June 13-17. Under the Sea returns June 13-17 as well. Out of This World, a blend of science and art, is June 20-24. Mythical and Magical is June 20-24. SUMMER MUSIC CAMPS

Kids will learn the joy of music with professional violinist Udeshi Hargett in these camps that are open to kids ages 3 and up. Camps include Intro to Music, Piano Camp, Violin Camp and Teen Music Camp. Camps meet twice a month, June to August, at Udeshi’s Music Studio in Wilson. Students will be exposed to several instruments including piano, violin, ukulele, drums and more. Supplies are provided.
