Farmers market back open
Posted on April 29, 2021
The 2021 Wilson Farmers & Artisan Market season will run every Saturday, 8 a.m. to noon, through through Sept. 4. The market is located in historic downtown Wilson, underneath and around the pavilion of the Vollis Simpson Whirligig Park.
Vendors will sell plants, herbs, produce, seafood, meats, eggs, baked goods, cut flowers, honey, smoothies, bath and body products, CBD products, pottery, jewelry, crafted treasures and more.
This season there will be more eat-on-sight food options, according to Meg Edwards, market manager. Natural High Smoothies of the Projech 86 food truck team will attend every Saturday, and the other three trucks — Fat & Skinnys, Item9 Pizza and El Chambis — will rotate weekly. Two downtown businesses, Tig’s Courtyard and Treat Yo’ Self, will also vend refreshments, coffee, and a variety of breakfast/snack items.
There will be regular participation of nonprofits and community groups, and the very popular, Washington Crab seafood vendor will be at the market every Saturday with a variety of fresh, local seafood.
On May 1, the market will host the Blood Connection blood mobile. All donors will receive a free $20 prepaid gift card (Visa or Mastercard) and free COVID-19 antibodies testing. Register through the QR code or website link posted on the event found on our @WilsonFarmersArtisanMarket.
On May 8, the market will host Maggiepalooza at the Market. This is the Maggie Society annual fundraiser. It’s a family-friendly event with additional food trucks (Roasted & Toasted and Kona Ice of Wendell), raffle prizes, a silent auction, music, special Maggie Merchandise, foster/adoption information and more.
