WAKE FOREST — More than 100 friends came out to The Corner on April 28 to celebrate the service and retirement of former Wake Forest Area Chamber of Commerce president Ann Welton. Having served in the position for more than six years, Welton made the decision to step down late last year.
As she wrote in the chamber’s Weekly E-news in mid-April, “You may have heard me say, ‘It’s been the most rewarding job I’ve ever had!’
“As I head into retirement, I’m proud to say that I believe I’m leaving the Chamber better than I found it. After weathering the pandemic, we’ve come out stronger than ever and our financial position is solid. Our members are engaged and connecting with each other. Our Chamber Foundation continues to grow and touch the lives of hundreds of youth in our community. All this good work is the result of the amazing team we have in place.
“I know the Chamber will continue to grow and thrive because we have the right people working on your behalf.”
Liz Simpers was named the new chamber president earlier this year.
