<p>RALEIGH &mdash; Three Raleigh private schools have new COVID-19 clusters, according to the N.C. Department of Health and Human Services.</p>
<p>North Raleigh Christian Academy, 7300 Perry Creek Road, has a third cluster. Four students and a staff member tested positive. The school had two previous clusters, each with five students. All three clusters are ongoing.</p>
<p>The Cathedral School had five students test positive for COVID-19, according to N.C. DHHS. Wake Christian Academy had four students and one employee test positive this week as well.</p>
<p>Six other clusters at K-12 schools are still ongoing. No new cases have been reported at Cardinal Gibbons High School, Cary Christian School, Cary High School, Neuse Christian Academy, Our Lady of Lourdes School and the Franciscan School.</p>
<p>Ten clusters are ongoing at childcare centers across the county. No new cases have been reported at any of them, including ABC Land in Wendell, Wakefield Creative School, and Kids R Kids in Wake Forest.</p>
<p>Franklin County Schools has no ongoing clusters. It doesn't report individual case counts for its schools.</p>
<h5><strong>WCPSS</strong></h5>
<p>Twenty-one students and employees&nbsp; tested positive for COVID-19 between Feb. 20-26, according to the Wake County Public School System&rsquo;s dashboard. Thirty-three people are waiting on test results.</p>
<p>Countywide, eight students and 13 staff tested positive for COVID-19. One student each at Carver Elementary and Wakefield High schools tested positive as did one employee each at River Bend Elementary, River Bend Middle and Rolesville Middle schools. One employee also tested positive in the Transportation and Child Nutrition Services departments.</p>
<p>Twenty-two students and 11 employees are waiting for test results. Two students from Rolesville High School are waiting as are one student each from Harris Creek Elementary, Forestville Elementary, Richland Creek Elementary and Heritage Elementary schools. One employee each is waiting at Neuse river Middle, Wake Forest High and Wakefield High schools along with one employee at Child Nutrition Services.</p>
<p>One student at Banks Road Elementary and one employee at Lake Myra Elementary tested negative for COVID-19. They are the only negative tests reported on the dashboard. Typically, WCPSS doesn&rsquo;t list negative results.&nbsp;</p>

New coronavirus clusters reported at 3 Wake private schools

<p>LOUISBURG &mdash; Teachers across the state became eligible to receive their COVID-19 vaccines this week.</p>
<p>Several Franklin County Schools teachers were vaccinated in a mass vaccination clinic at the Triangle North Executive Airport in Louisburg. Vaccines were provided by the Franklin County Health Department.</p>
<p>&ldquo;Seeing pictures of our employees being vaccinated is like receiving the best gift ever,&rdquo; said Superintendent Rhonda Schuhler.</p>
<p>She added that she was grateful to the health department for hosting the clinic.</p>
<p>North Carolina was also ranked No. 1 in the nation among states for vaccinating residents 65 and older, according to the Kaiser Family Foundation. The foundation noted that 17 states were reporting the number of older adults they had vaccinated.</p>
<p>North Carolina has vaccinated 49% of its resident 65 and older. No state in the nation has reported reaching over 50% yet.</p>
<p>&ldquo;I am so proud of our vaccine providers across North Carolina, and the amazing team at @NCDHHS, for all their hard work getting vaccines into arms quickly and equitably,&rdquo; Dr. Mandy Cohen tweeted Friday. She&rsquo;s the secretary of the department.</p>

<p>As of Friday, the state had administered around 90% of the total vaccines it had received, according to the N.C. DHHS dashboard. That&rsquo;s more than 2.1 million doses statewide.</p>
<p>Statewide, most people who have received their vaccine have been white, around 77%; and non-Hispanic, around 97%. Around 60% are female.</p>
<p>Most people receiving their first dose of the vaccine this week are 65 and older, around 68%.</p>
<p>More than 222,000 vaccines have been administered in Wake County. More than 78,000 people have taken both doses. In Franklin County, more than 12,400 doses have been administered. Around 4,800 people have taken both shots.</p>
<p>CVS and Walgreens have given more than 199,000 vaccines to residents and employees in long-term care facilities.&nbsp;</p>

<p>RALEIGH &mdash; Several statewide restrictions related to the COVID-19 virus, including the curfew, have been eased starting Friday.</p>
<p>In addition to lifting the 10 p.m. curfew, bars will now be opened at 30% capacity, including indoors. They&rsquo;re capped at 250 people. Alcohol can&rsquo;t be served after 11 p.m., two hours later than the previous 9 p.m. limit.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Social gathering limits are also increased. Now, up to 25 people can meet inside, up from 10, while 50 people can gather outside. Statewide, more spectators will be allowed at outdoor sporting events, including high school sports. However, the Wake County Public School System is not increasing the number of people it allows.</p>
<p>Capacity restrictions remain at 50% on businesses and retail estabishments, including restaurants and gyms.</p>
<p>The changes are the result of continuing downward trends in state COVID-19 numbers, including the percentage of positive COVID-19 tests. Tha number is below the 5% benchmark for the first time since the N.C. Department of Health and Human Services began reporting it.</p>
<h5><strong>Wake County by the numbers</strong></h5>
<p>Wake County reported 1,237 new cases of COVID-19 since Feb. 19, according to the N.C. DHHS. Cases within the last week may not have been reported yet.</p>
<p>More than 74,000 people in Wake County have tested positive, according to N.C. DHHS. That number includes people who have recovered.</p>
<p>Wake Forest saw 133 new cases since Feb. 19, according to the Wake County Public Health Team. It has seen 5,275 cases since the beginning of the pandemic.</p>
<p>Knightdale had 42 new cases for 2,684 total while Wendell had 22 for a total of 1,764. Zebulon had 4 new cases for a total of 1,566, and Rolesville had 16 for a total of 587.</p>
<p>Countywide, about 5.6% of people tested were positive for COVID-19, according to N.C. DHHS. The department wants to see less than 5%.</p>
<p>Most people who test positive are under the age of 50, around 73%. School aged kids account for around 11%. More than half are female, 52%, and 21% are ethnically Hispanic. Around 52% are white while 21% are Black.</p>
<p>Around 51% of Wake County is female while around 21% are Black and around 10% are ethnically Hispanic.</p>
<p>No new deaths have been reported in Wake County since Feb. 17, according to N.C. DHHS. At least 521 people have died since the pandemic began. Deaths occurring within the last week may not have been reported, according to N.C. DHHS.</p>
<p>Around 68% were 75 or older and about 50% were female. Around 3% of people didn&rsquo;t put down a gender or age.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Around 53% were white and 32% were Black. About 8% identified as Hispanic.About 3% didn&rsquo;t indicate a race or ethnicity.</p>
<h5><strong>Franklin County by the numbers</strong></h5>
<p>Franklin County reported at least 178 new COVID-19 cases since Feb. 19, according to the N.C. DHHS. &nbsp;Cases within the last week may not have been reported yet. At least 5,300 people have tested positive since the beginning of the pandemic, including those who have recovered.</p>
<p>About 6.8% of people tested were positive. N.C. DHHS wants less than 5%.</p>
<p>Most people who test positive are under the age of 50, around 69%. School aged kids account for around 13%. More than half are female, 53%, and 18% are ethnically Hispanic. Around 61% are white while 23% are Black.</p>
<p>Around 51% of Franklin County is female while around 26% are Black and around 9% are ethnically Hispanic.</p>
<p>At least one new deaths has been reported since Feb. 17, according to N.C. DHHS. Franklin County has seen 43 deaths in total, according to N.C. HHS.</p>
<p>Around 35% were 75 or older and about 43% were male. &nbsp;Around 35% of people didn&rsquo;t indicate a gender or age.</p>
<p>Around 32% were white and 32% were Black. About 2% identified as Hispanic. Around 37% of people did not indicate a race or ethnicity.</p>
<h5><strong>North Carolina by the numbers</strong></h5>
<p>Across the state, 2,924 new COVID-19 cases were reported Friday. Cases within the last week may not have been reported yet. At least 855,000 people have tested positive since March 2020, including those who have recovered.</p>
<p>About 4.7% of people tested were positive. At least 10.1 million tests have been taken.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Most people who test positive are under the age of 50, around 65%. School aged kids account for around **%. More than half are female, 53%, and 21% are ethnically Hispanic. Around 62% are white while 21% are Black.</p>
<p>Statewide, around 51% of people are female and around 10% are Hispanic. Roughly 22% are Black.</p>
<p>At least 97 deaths have been reported since Feb. 19, according to N.C. DHHS. More than 11,100 North Carolinians have died since the beginning of a pandemic, according to N.C. DHHS.</p>
<p>Around 60% were 75 or older and about 52% were male.</p>
<p>Around 66% were white and 25% were Black. About 8% identified as Hispanic.</p>
<h5><strong>Hospitalizations</strong></h5>
<p>Around 1,465 people were hospitalized across the state as of Friday, according to N.C. DHHS. That&rsquo;s the lowest number since 2021 started.</p>
<p>Around 126 people were hospitalized in the Capital Region Healthcare Preparedness Coalition, which includes both Wake and Franklin Counties.</p>
<p>Around 82% of available beds are filled. An additional 250 aren&rsquo;t staffed. Around 81% of available ICU beds are in use; a further 26 aren&rsquo;t staffed. About 30% of ventilators are in use.&nbsp;</p>
