FRANKLINTON — Franklin Academy’s boys track and field team finished second at the Super Six conference championship meet held at Franklinton May 3.

The Patriots scored 66.5 points behind Research Triangle’s 85 points. The girls team placed fourth overall behind Research Triangle.

For the boys team, Roland Leslie won first place in three events for the Patriots. The freshman won the long jump with a distance of 21-feet, the triple jump with a distance of 38-feet-8-inches and the 3,200-meter run with a time of 10:52.

Leslie also finished third in three other events. He placed third in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.09 seconds, the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.93 seconds and the 1,600-meter run with a time of 5:05.

Colby Orr won first place in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:11. The senior also finished second in the 1,600-meter run with a time of 4:54.

Maurice McCalla won first place in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 18.8 seconds. The junior also finished second in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.63 seconds.

Seth Brazil won first place in the high jump with a measurement of 5-feet-2-inches. Charlie Gimber won the discus with a distance of 72-feet-10-inches.

Franklin Academy’s boys team also won first place in multiple relay events. The Patriots won the 4x100-meter relay with a time of 49.24 seconds, the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 3:57.08 and the 4x800-meter relay with a time of 9:01.28. Franklin Academy placed third in the 4x200-meter relay with a time of 1:45.34.

For Franklin Academy’s girls team, Emily Myers was the only athlete to win first place. The sophomore won the 800-meter run with a time of 2:28 and the 1,600-meter run with a time of 5:00. She also placed second in the 3,200-meter run with a time of 12:50.

Ameera Badjan placed second in the girls 100-meter hurdles with a time of 20.12 seconds. Franklin Academy also finished second in the 4x800-meter relay with a time of 12:28.21.
