WAKE FOREST — Heritage will send 10 student-athletes off to college who signed with their respective schools Dec. 15. The Huskies produced a football player, two boys lacrosse players, a girls basketball player, two baseball players, a boys soccer player, two softball players and a volleyball player for the next level.

Marco Patierno signed to play football at Elon University. The linebacker and running back played three years at the varsity level for Heritage. As a running back this past season, he totaled 500 yards and nine touchdowns. At outside linebacker, he totaled 142 tackles, two for a loss, six sacks, three interceptions and a forced fumble.

Zach Berg will play men’s lacrosse at Newberry College in South Carolina. This past season, he scored 32 goals and dished out five assists for the Huskies.

Riley Martin will play men’s lacrosse at Washington College in Maryland. This past season, he scored five goals and dished out 19 assists. He has 18 goals and 38 assists in his high school career so far.

Chloe Williams signed to play women’s basketball at Elon University. Last year, she averaged 19 points, 6.8 rebounds, 2.7 steals and 1.3 assists per game.

Elijah Jordan signed to play baseball at Gaston College. This past year, he registered five hits, two RBIs and two runs with a batting average of .556.

Cole Strand signed to play baseball at Belmont-Abbey College. He struck out five batters from the mound this past season as a pitcher.

David Ortiz signed to play men’s soccer at Bates College in Maine. In two years playing soccer at Heritage, he scored 10 goals and dished out six assists as a midfielder.

Nala McCallop signed to play softball at Wake Tech. This past year, she batted an average of .441 with 15 hits, seven RBIs, seven runs and one home run.

Avery Walston signed to play softball at Lees-McRae. In three years at varsity, she has a batting average of .226 with 21 hits, 15 RBIs and 14 runs.

Kennedy George signed to play volleyball at Wake Tech. In two years at varsity, she recorded 98 kills, 60 blocks, 18 digs and five assists.
