PAWLEYS ISLAND, S.C.  — The 15U Fungo White baseball team went undefeated at 4-0 to win the Top Gun Winter National Championship on Sunday, Nov. 22.

Fungo White was the No. 1 overall seed in the single-elimination tournament. The squad won the championship game 11-1. Fungo White scored six runs in the first inning, four in the second and added one more near the end of the contest.

The tournament was held in Pawleys Island, South Carolina. 

In the championship match, the Fungo pitched a no-hitter. Over the weekend, the pitchers struck out 30 batters and every pitcher played a complete game.

Two of the four tournament wins were shutouts and the Fungo only gave up four runs in four games, outscoring their opponents 36-5. Only one error was committed in the entire tournament.

Fungo White head coach Jeff Hoelzle praised his team for bringing some national championship hardware back home.

“These boys have worked so hard this year and they are the most amazing group of young men that I have ever been around,” Hoelzle said. “They are selfless and so supportive of each other and it really shows on the field. They deserve all the accolades that come their way. I am so proud to be a part of this team and am honored to have the opportunity to coach these boys.”

This is the fourth Top Gun tournament Fungo White has won this year. The travel baseball squad won the Top Gun Fall Zone Qualifier tournament Oct. 4. 

The team also won the Top Gun Summer World Series on Sept. 5 and another Top Gun tournament championship Aug. 30.
