LENOIR — Esley Hope Forbes III, 81, passed away Thursday, May 20, 2021, at Caldwell UNC Health Care.
He was born April 26, 1940, in Wake County to the late Esley Hope Forbes Jr. and Doris Carter Forbes.
Mr. Forbes was a faithful member of Cedar Valley United Methodist Church and loved his Lord. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy, a devoted fan of UNC Baseball, and enjoyed being outdoors especially when working in his yard. Esley was the owner and operator of Forbes Printing from the years 1983 to 2018 and took great pride in working hard. He will be remembered for the love and care he had for his family, friends and community.
Those left to cherish his memory include his son, Stephen Forbes, and wife, Patti, of Granite Falls; one brother, Harvey Forbes, and wife, Joan, of Sanford; two sisters, Annette Cannon of Boone and Nancy Harriett and husband, Bill, of Danville, Virginia; three beloved granddaughters, Kristin Benfield and husband, Richy, Stephanie McKinnon and husband, Justin, and Elizabeth Link and husband, Ryan; and one great-granddaughter, Ansley Benfield.
A memorial service to honor the life of Esley was held 2 p.m. Sunday, May 23, at Cedar Valley United Methodist Church conducted by the Rev. Tracy Love and the Rev. Sarah Fouts.
The family received friends following the service at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Cedar Valley United Methodist Church, 3945 Oakhill Park Circle, Lenoir, NC 28645 or the Oak Hill Ruritan Club which Esley was very involved with, 4607 Oak Hill School Road, Lenoir, NC 28645.
