WAKE FOREST — Wake Forest’s Kahlil Watson hit three solo home runs in the 11-1 win against Wakefield at home June 1.

The senior shortstop got the offense going early with the first at-bat in the game for the Cougars in the bottom of the first inning. Wake Forest scored three more runs to quickly go up 4-1.

Watson hit two more home runs. The Cougars scored seven more runs in all to finish the game early in the bottom of the sixth with an 11-1 victory.

Luke Stevenson also had a good game behind the plate. The sophomore had two hits with two RBIs and a run scored off a home run. Ivan Perez recorded one hit and one RBI.

Cooper Allen pitched all six innings on the mound for Wake Forest. The sophomore struck out 10 batters and allowed four hits with only one run.

With the loss, Wakefield dropped to 3-7 overall and 2-5 in NAC 6 conference play. The Wolverines are officially out of state playoff contention with a fifth place standing in the conference.

With the win, Wake Forest stays undefeated with an 11-0 overall record and 7-0 in conference play. The Cougars will face off against Heritage twice in the final week of the regular season to determine the conference champion.
