<p>CLAYTON &#x2014; Eight sculptures will soon go on outdoor display in Clayton.</p> <p>But where to put them?</p> <p>For the answer to that question, Clayton&#x2019;s Public Art Advisory Board turned to Jim Davis, an expert in environmental design who&#x2019;s worked on projects much like Clayton&#x2019;s Sculpture Trail. Among other places, he&#x2019;s done work in Cary, Fayetteville and Goldsboro in neighboring Waye County.</p> <p>&#x201C;We called Goldsboro to double-check, and they said they couldn&#x2019;t do it without him,&#x201D; Sara Perricone, chair of the Public Art Advisory Board, told the Town Council recently.</p> <p>&#x201C;He has brought all of his skills here,&#x201D; Perricone added. &#x201C;I can tell you we could not have done it without him either.&#x201D;</p> <p>The abstract pieces that will make up Clayton&#x2019;s Sculpture Trail come from across the country, Perricone told the council. In all, the Public Art Advisory Board received 86 submissions from 13 states. In the end, it chose pieces from artists in North Carolina, Florida and New York. Most of the works will be on display downtown.</p> <p>Councilman Michael Grannis said he appreciated the Public Art Advisory Board&#x2019;s dedication to bringing public art to Clayton. &#x201C;I don&#x2019;t recall how many years we have been doing this, but it seems to get better each year,&#x201D; he said.</p>

<p class="p1"><span class="s1">A large high-pressure ridge has pushed cold air into the Wilson Times area, but by Tuesday, a quick warmup should begin.</span></p>

<p class="p1"><span class="s1">SMITHFIELD &mdash; The Johnston Health Foundation has raised the money needed to purchase and equip what it&rsquo;s calling a Mobile Outreach Unit, a specially outfitted RV that will bring health care to people where they live.</span></p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1">Even better, the fundraising campaign exceeded its $450,000 goal by $59,000, the foundation noted in a news release. With those excess dollars, the foundation has created a Community Outreach Fund to meet the recurring needs of the Mobile Outreach Unit and other community outreach initiatives.</span></p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1">The mobile unit will provide health education and preventative care, especially for low-income, minority, elderly and disabled Johnstonians. That care will include screenings for early detection of chronic illnesses, vaccination clinics, labs and audiograms, heart and vascular screenings, onsite physicals, training in life-saving skills, and health consultations.</span></p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1">The excess dollars and other donations may cover the cost of patient copays, medications, supplies, equipment and other outreach needs.</span></p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1">In all, more than 100 donors contributed the more than $509,000.</span></p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1">The mobile unit is in production, and Johnston Health expects it to arrive in September.</span></p>
