KS Bank has donated $10,000 to the Johnston County Education Foundation, a nonprofit that supports the county’s public schools.

Earl W. Worley Jr., the bank’s president and chief executive, and Doug Cockrell, a credit analyst, presented the check to Eric Brownlee, chairman of the foundation’s board, and Darla Peedin, the foundation’s executive director.

“As a corporate member of the Johnston County community, we are honored to support the Johnston County Education Foundation in its mission to provide scholarship funding and teaching grants throughout our county,” Worley said.

Harold Keen, the bank’s executive vice chairman, was instrumental in helping the foundation get its start, Worley noted. “We want to continue our efforts to partner with the foundation as a way to honor all who had the vision to start the foundation,” he said.

Peedin welcomed the bank’s gift. “The Johnston County Education Foundation is honored to have the support of KS Bank,” she said. “Their contribution will continue the mission of the foundation to support Johnston County Public Schools faculty, staff and students. Together we will make every effort to make Johnston County public education an outstanding system.”’

The foundation administers more than 60 college scholarships and awards grants to teachers to support their classrooms and special projects.
