Whitley paces Ladybirds on court

Dari’elle Whitley plays basketball for the Ladybirds at Southern Nash High School and is the Farris & Thomas Law Attorneys Student-Athlete of the Week.
Whitley plays small forward on the basketball team. She led the Ladybirds in scoring with 22 points against Northern Nash on Friday, though the Knights ultimately prevailed 44-39. Through Friday’s contest, 3-A Southern Nash owned a 2-4 record in the 2-A/3-A Big East Conference for varsity girls basketball.
She also paced the Ladybirds with 15 points in their 42-32 nonconference road loss to Webb on Jan. 11.
Whitley was one of seven girls’ all-tournament selections in the Farris & Thomas Holiday Tournament played at the end of December, putting up 25 points in the Ladybirds’ two appearances. Through all tournament matches, she led Southern Nash in scoring with an 11 point per game average.
A 16-year-old junior, Whitley plans to attend the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill to study nursing.
