Vick spearheads Firebirds’ rushing attack
Jackson Vick plays football for the Firebirds at Southern Nash High School and is The Enterprise’s Farris & Thomas Law Attorneys Student-Athlete of the Week.
Vick is a running back for the varsity Firebirds. He also plays small forward on the school’s basketball team.
Vick scored two touchdowns and ran for 147 yards in the Firebirds’ 48-22 win over Franklinton on Friday.
He leads the Firebirds’ rushing attack, which averaged 357.6 yards per game on the ground going into the Franklinton matchup. The yardage total was fifth-best in the state.
A North Carolina State University commit, Vick enjoyed a breakout junior season at running back this spring, running for 1,072 yards and 15 touchdowns as he was named offensive player of the year by both 3-A Big East Conference coaches and The Enterprise’s sister newspaper, The Wilson Times, for its All-Area Team.
A 17-year-old senior, Vick plans to play pro football after high school and college.
