Posted on October 18, 2021

Nashville — Rose Marie died on Sunday, 17 October 2021 at the age of 70. She was born 7 October 1951, the daughter of the late, Ruth Edwards and Wayne T. Coppedge in Spring Hope. She is survived by her husband Donald. They were married for 52 years, 4 months and nine days before her death. She is also survived by three children, nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, with fourth due in November. Her children are: Donald Scott Skinner (Connie) of Spring Hope; Gregory Ray Skinner of Red Oak and Emily Rose Skinner (Mike Rice) of Zebulon. She was Mama Rose to Catherine Evans (Billy) of Spring Hope; Gregory Keel (Mykaela) of Tarboro; Michael Nowell of Zebulon; Nicholas Skinner of Red Oak; Cameron White of Zebulon; Kenneth White of Zebulon; Harley Perry and Jordan Hardie of Spring Hope; Rylee Keel and Oliver Keel of Tarboro. She is also survived by her Aunt, Jean Matthews of Momeyer whom she loved dearly. Rose went to elementary school at Momeyer; High School at Spring Hope and was a member of the first graduating class at Southern Nash 1969. She also attended Nash Community College graduating with a degree in Accounting. She loved to travel and visited 49 states. Her health prevented her from visiting Alaska. Rose and Donald made their first home in Kaneohe, Hawaii. She loved the warm weather there and as she would say "year round shorts and no shoes place". She loved RVing and was on her way home from Cape Hatteras when her heart stopped. She had fought heart disease since 1990 and enjoyed life to the fullest despite the disease. Rose Marie was a Duke Blue Devil fan and instilled this into most of her children and grandchildren. Visitation with family and friends was held Wednesday October 20, 2021 from 6-8:00pm at Cornerstone Funeral Home. A private burial will be held for the family. In lieu of flowers Rose would rather donations be made to the children's Make - A-Wish Foundation, 3809 Computer Dr. UNIT 201 Raleigh, North Carolina 27609.

Cornerstone Funeral Home is honored to be caring for the Skinner family and words of comfort may be shared at Cornerstone Funeral Home 1052 South First Street, Nashville, NC 27856.
