ROCKY MOUNT — City police are investigating a fatal crash in which a vehicle struck a house.

Police are looking for a group of young people who were riding bicycles in the neighborhood at the time of the wreck and may have seen what happened. Police have issued a press release including a photograph of a bicycle a potential witness left behind.

At 8:15 p.m. Thursday, officers responded to the intersection of East Grand Avenue and East Highland Avenue after a car struck a house, said Cpl. Ricky Jackson, public information officer for the Rocky Mount Police Department.

“The driver, 66-year-old Dennis Heath, was pronounced deceased at the scene,” Jackson said in a news release. “A second male occupant, 40-year-old Dennis Dickens, was transported to Nash UNC Health Care for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.”

The police department’s Traffic Enforcement Crash Reconstruction Unit is investigating the wreck.

Police ask anyone with information or video footage related to the wreck to call the Rocky Mount Police Department at 252-972-1411 or Twin County Crime Stoppers at 252-977- 1111.

To send information through the Text-A-Tip service, text RMPOL and your message to CRIMES (274637). Authorities say text messages are anonymous.
