ZEBULON — Former South Granville baseball standout and current Carolina Mudcats starting pitcher Justin Bullock was named the Low-A East Pitcher of the Week for the week ending May 16.

According to a Mudcats press release, Bullock had a career night at Down East where he struck out 12 batters over six scoreless innings.

The Carolina Mudcats are the Low-A affiliates of the Milwaukee Brewers. The Brewers selected Bullock in the ninth round of the 2017 MLB draft.

He began his career in the Arizona League with the Brewers franchise. He then moved to the Helena Brewers in Montana.

Bullock was assigned to the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers and then the Rocky Mountain Vibes. He returned to the Timber Rattlers in 2019 after being on the seven-day injured list.

The Mudcats activated Bullock on Feb. 12 this year.

Bullock led South Granville to its only state baseball title in 2015.
