ROCKY MOUNT — Authorities have made an arrest in a shooting at the Golden East Crossing Mall.

Shyheem Smith, 19, faces two counts of causing injury to personal property and discharging a firearm within the city limits. Arrested Thursday, Smith received a $10,000 secured bond.

At 5 p.m. March 13, officers with the Rocky Mount Police Department responded to a shots-fired call at the 1100 N. Wesleyan Blvd. mall, said Cpl. Ricky Jackson, the department’s public information officer.

Witnesses told police that gunshots were fired in the Dunham’s Sports parking lot, Jackson said.

No one was injured in the shooting, but several cars sustained damage in the spray of gunfire.
