City police looking into suspicious death

ROCKY MOUNT — City police are investigating a suspicious death.

Officers responded at 10:40 a.m. Thursday to a report of an unconscious man in the woodline of the 1700 block of Lafayette Circle, said Cpl. Ricky Jackson, public information officer for the Rocky Mount Police Department.

"The man was pronounced deceased at the scene by E.M.S. from an apparent suicide," Jackson said.

The department's Criminal Investigation Unit and evidence technicians processed the scene.

Police are withholding the name of the decedent pending family notification. The Enterprise doesn't typically report the identity of suicide victims.
