WENDELL — A new animal hospital in Wendell celebrated its grand opening on Oct. 9.

Wendell Animal Hospital opened Sept. 20 and specializes in small and exotic animals, from dogs and cats to leopard geckos and more.

“I’m beyond excited. It’s an honor to serve this wonderful community and its pets,” said Kimberly Foca, primary veterinarian. “It has always been my dream to open up a hospital, and I can’t wait for Wendell to see our new home.”

The hospital is part of Vets Pets, a cooperative network of veterinary hospitals across the state.

“Wendell is growing so fast, and we want to make sure everyone has access to veterinary care,” said Steve Thomas, CEO of Vets Pets. “Dr. Foca is the perfect partner to provide high-quality, convenient and affordable care to the area’s pets.”

Foca grew up in New Jersey and started working as a vet tech in 2003. She completed her bachelor’s degree in biology at Rutgers University and her master’s in developmental and reproductive biology at the University of Hawaii on Oahu. She pursued her veterinary degree at Ross University in St. Kitts, finishing with a clinical year at N.C. State University.

Wendell Animal Hospital, 2961 Wendell Blvd., is open most weekdays from 8 a.m.-5:30 p.m. and on Wednesdays from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. It’s closed on weekends. For more information, visit www.wendellanimalhospital.com.
