CREEDMOOR — Paul Kenneth Stangle was born on April 24, 1945, in Great Bend Kansas and passed away at the VA hospital in Durham on April 22, 2021.

Paul grew up in Hoisington, Kansas, and graduated from high school in 1963. He then went to Oklahoma Tech where he got his degree as an electronics technician. He moved to Wichita, Kansas where he went to work at Western Union. He was drafted into the U.S. Army on April 24, 1966, and served his country during the Vietnam War as a teletype repairman and personal photographer to the base colonial.

After returning from the war, he met the love of his life, Sharron Kay Carter, in July of 1968. Paul and Sharron were married on June 7, 1970. Their life together began in Wichita and later was spent in Albuquerque, New Mexico; Saint Peters, Missouri; and Howard, Kansas before the couple finally ended up moving to Creedmoor in 2001 to help raise their grandchildren. He was a loving and caring father to his three children, Kevin, Shelley and Keri.

Paul loved God and his faith led him to be a dedicated member of his church. His hobbies included photography, NASCAR, trains, hotrod cars and telling stories.

He is survived by his wife, Sharron Kay Carter Stangle; sister, Judith Ann Stangle Embry; children, Kevin Paul Stangle, Shelley Kay Stangle Danforth and Michael, Keri Sue Stangle Rodriquez; grandchildren, DeAnna, Ashley, and Andrew Rodriquez, and Evan and Braden Danforth.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul L. and Esther M. Stangle; and his older sister, Carolyn Sue Stangle Acock.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like to request donations be made to Veterans Life Center, 1005 Ninth St., Butner, NC 27509.
