BUTNER — James “Jake” Robertson, 95, a resident of Granville County passed away on Feb. 4, 2021.
He was born on March 5, 1925, in Earle, Arkansas, to the late Willie and Margaret Robertson.
Jake was a welder by trade and spent many years working at shipyards and oil refineries. He was the oldest living member of Living Word Baptist Church in Creedmoor. He loved to garden. His love for his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren was always obvious.
Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 7, in Peachtree Baptist Church Cemetery, 3523 NC 581, Springhope. Pastor Mike Vaughan and Pastor Gene Whitehouse officiated.
Surviving are two daughters, Frances Bunn (Bob) and Margaret Abbott (Eddie); grandchildren, Robbie Bunn (Tammy), Kristi Bunn, Missy Whitfield (Tony), Jennifer Oakley (Michael Veasey), and Eddie Abbott Jr. (Shannon); great-grandchildren, Andrew, JR, Rosetta, Savannah, Georgia, Mary Hazel, Linnea, Georgi, Kylie, and Clay; a great-great-granddaughter, Anzley; special friend, Frances Hutchens; one brother and two sisters.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 63 years, Hazel; two brothers and three sisters.
