Creedmoor, N.C. — Dorothy "Dot" Currin Jordan, 90, passed away peacefully and unexpectedly on Wednesday, November 17, 2021, at Granville Medical Center.

A Granville County native, she was born on April 14, 1931, to Aaron and Pauline Currin. In addition to her parents, Dot was predeceased by two brothers, Bill Currin and Charles Currin, and her youngest son, David Jordan.

Left to cherish her memory are her loving and devoted husband of 68 years, Tom Jordan, III, of the home; a son, Tom Jordan, IV, and wife, Karen, of Raleigh; two granddaughters, Tom and Karen's daughter, Suzanne C. Jordan of Durham, and her fiancé Craig Lorentzen, and David's daughter, Jessica N. Jordan, of Cary.

Dot was a true Southern lady who was best known as the queen of hospitality. Her sense of style and exquisite taste elevated the everyday to a special occasion. She delighted in entertaining, especially when it involved sharing her family homeplace, Seven Gables, also known as the Harris-Currin house, in Creedmoor. She and her husband, Tom, had lovingly restored the 1880s home, and Dot never ran out of ideas for decorating inside and what flowers to plant in the gardens outside. Dot had a special gift for creating awe-inspiring flower arrangements that imparted pure wonder and joy. She had a true eye for beauty, and it was amusing to see which piece of furniture or garden statuary had been moved to yet another location to enhance its visual appeal. As a long-time member of the Granville Gardeners, Dot was most passionate about gardening, arranging flowers and interior design.

A Peace College graduate, Dot lived in Alaska while her husband was stationed there in the U.S. Air Force. Thereafter, they moved to Elgin, Illinois, while Tom attended watchmaker's school, and then on to Smithfield, NC, where they operated Jordan Jewelry Company before moving to her native Granville County. There Dot and her mother, Pauline, teamed up to sell World Book encyclopedias, and they won many awards as top sales representatives. Later in life, Dot and Tom were direct distributors for Amway prior to their retirement.

As a member of Oxford Baptist Church, Dot was active with the children's group for many years. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Oxford Baptist Church, 147 Main Street, Oxford, NC, 27565.

A private celebration of Dot's well-lived life will be scheduled at a later date.
