BUTNER — Council members approved a six cent tax increase during the June 2 meeting.
The new tax rate of $0.4250 per $100 valuation goes into effect July 1. The town will also use $456,682 from fund balance to balance the budget.
The town council did not raise taxes during the pandemic.
Butner’s council approved adopting the American with Disabilities Transition Plan for submission to the N.C. Department of Transportation. The plan has recommended remediation actions for non-compliant facilities and areas that will be addressed over the next five fiscal years beginning FY ‘23-24.
The council approved an inter-local agreement with South Granville Water and Sewer Authority in the amount of $23,359 for the first stage of the management strategy of the Falls Lake watershed rules.
The Fourth of July fireworks celebration will be held on Friday, July 1 at Lake Holt. Gates will open at 5:30 p.m.
The council will meet at 7 p.m. on July 7 at town hall.
