BUTNER — The Butner Chicken Pickin’ festival will be held rain or shine on Saturday, June 4, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Gazebo Park. After a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic, the festival is now in its twenty-eighth year.
The Butner Community Association has also added some new additions, including a beer and wine vendor.
On stage number one, the entertainment line-up includes Granville County natives Noah Wall and Tommy Norris of the Barefoot Movement, a national award-winning Americana band. They will be followed by Melissa’s School of Dance.
On stage two, the Tim Clark Band from Myrtle Beach,and the Yates Sisters will perform during the break.
In addition to live entertainment, the festival features a barbecue chicken cook-off contest, lots of food and craft vendors, kiddie activities, a tractor and car show.
The festival weekend kicks off with the Butner Street Dance on Friday, June 3, from 7 to 10 p.m. out in the parking lot at Soldier’s Memorial Sports Arena, weather permitting. In the event of rain, the dance will be held inside the arena. The band for this year’s street dance is The Castaways.
