Butner Public Safety report: May 5-12

Crime

The following is a list of incidents and arrests from May 5-12 by Butner Public Safety officers. All information is from public law enforcement records.
May 5
• PSO M. B. Butler served a criminal summons on Cynthia Browning, 47, of Creedmoor, for school attendance violation. Browning was issued a court date and ordered to appear in court.  
May 8
• Property damage was reported on 27th Street. As a result of the incident, PSO M. B. Butler obtained a warrant on Banzet Lewis Jr., 39, of Youngsville, charging him with injury to real property.      
• PSO A. R. Spitzer arrested Michael Tyrone Hart, 60, of Creedmoor, during a traffic stop and charged him with DWI. Hart was issued a secured bond of $1,200 by Magistrate C. P. Bostic and placed in the Granville County Detention Center.  
• Communicating threats were reported on Skipping Stone Lane. The victim was threatened by his sister-in-law. 
• An assault was reported on Running Brook Drive. As a result of the incident, PSO M. B. Butner obtained a warrant on Leroy Frank Sanders III, 30, of Creedmoor, charging him with assault on a female. Sanders was later arrested by Durham Police Department. A Durham Magistrate issued no bond for Sanders, and he was placed in the Durham County Detention Center. 
May 9
• Breaking and entering and larceny was reported on East Lyon Station Road, West Middleton Drive, and in Quail Meadows Subdivision.  20 vehicles, 3 trailers, and a shed were broken into.  All of the vehicles were unlocked.  Firearms and money were stolen from the vehicles and 2 pressure washers were stolen from the trailers.     
May 10 
• Sgt. T. B. Currin served a criminal summons on Sophia Lynn Shelvin, 40, of Cary, for communicating threats and harassing phone calls. Shelvin was issued a court date and ordered to appear in court. 
• PSO A. R. Spitzer arrested Dontre Dezon Bullock, 48, of Creedmoor, and charged him with DWI. Bullock was issued a secured bond of $1,000 by Magistrate R. R. Roberts Jr. and placed in the Granville County Detention Center.  
• PSO D. T. George arrested Lamarr Antoine Melson, II, 24, of Cary, for an outstanding warrant for probation violation, breaking and entering, larceny after breaking and entering, obtaining property by false pretense, and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. Melson was issued a secured bond of $141,000 by Magistrate R. W. Pearce and placed in the Granville County Detention Center.  
May 11
• PSO D. T. George arrested Andre Vernell Puryear, 32, of Durham, for an outstanding warrant for probation violation. Puryear was issued a secured bond of $2,000 by Magistrate R. W. Pearce and placed in the Granville County Detention Center.  
May 12
• PSO D. T. George arrested Kianna Hobson, 26, of Creedmoor, for an outstanding warrant for assault. Hobson was issued no bond by Magistrate R. W. Pearce and placed in the Granville County Detention Center.  
Special events and notices
On the second Thursday of every month, Butner Public Safety will host its monthly Community Watch meetings at Butner Town Hall. Butner Public Safety urges the public to attend these meetings to learn vital information pertaining to the safety of their neighborhoods. During each of these meeting’s information such as recent arrests, crimes and safety concerns are addressed to the public. Butner Public Safety also accepts any and all information or concerns from the public so that they can be resolved or addressed. For more information, contact Sgt. N. Williams at 919-575-6561 ext. 111. The next scheduled meeting will be determined at a later date. Butner Public Safety encourages everyone to keep their parked vehicles locked.
