Butner Public Safety report: May 21-June 1

Crime

The following is a list of incidents and arrests from May 21 to June 1 by Butner Public Safety officers. All information is from public law enforcement records.

May 21
• Officer J. Aaron responded to Bojangles in reference to a disturbance. While on scene, Robert White II was arrested for resisting and assault on a law enforcement officer.
• Sgt. C. Duke responded to Family Fare on Central Avenue in reference to a larceny. While investigating the case and with aid from other officers, Sgt. Duke was able to issue Beisy Murillo a citation for larceny. 
May 22
• Officer J. Aaron responded to 1201 Arnhem Lane in reference to a fight in progress. While on scene, Tyler King and Chasity Bullock were placed under arrest for simple assault. 
May 23
• Officer J. Shelton arrested Sterling Frazier for felony probation violation that was issued by Durham County.
• Central Regional Hospital reported two eloped patients. Both patients have been returned to CRH without any incident. 
May 25 
• Officer A. Spitzer placed Cavaricci Edwards under arrest for misdemeanor larceny that occurred at Tom’s Mini Mart. 
May 26
• A breaking and entering was reported on Business Park Drive. The perpetrator(s) entered the property and stole a white 2016 Chevrolet Silverado, a Kaufman Utility Trailer, a John Deere Gator, box blades, Stihl chainsaws, copper, tools, toolbox, and other assorted items.
• A larceny of a motor vehicle was reported on Central Avenue. As a result of the incident, Sgt. B. T. Lomena obtained a warrant on David Jacob Chait, 29, of Youngsville, charging him with larceny of a motor vehicle.    
• PSO J. W. Aaron arrested Franklin Leandrews Robinson, 19, of Durham, and charged him with possession of schedule I and possession of schedule VI.  Robinson also had an outstanding failure to appear. Robinson was issued a secured bond of $8,500 by Magistrate R. W. Pearce and placed in the Granville County Detention Center.  
May 27
• PSO D. Toral served a criminal summons on Ryan Allen Mills, 31, of Butner, for simple assault. Mills was issued a court date and ordered to appear in court.  
• A larceny was reported on Central Avenue. The suspect stole two pregnancy tests.  
May 29 
• Property damage was reported on West C Street. The perpetrator(s) cut the victim’s vehicle tires.  
• Larceny was reported on Highway 56. The perpetrator stole two cartons of cigarettes and lighters.  
• Communicating threats was reported on Meadowview Drive. The victim was threatened by her ex-boyfriend.  
May 30
• PSO C. D. Coeburn arrested Derrick Lamont Moss, 37, of Butner, for an outstanding warrant for larceny of a motor vehicle. Moss was issued an unsecured bond of $10,000 by Magistrate C. F. Knott and was released.  
• A larceny was reported on East F Street. The suspect stole a PS5 game console.  
May 31
• PSO D. T. George arrested Carlos Kamaal White, 22, of Durham, for an outstanding failure to appear. White was issued a secured bond of $500 by Magistrate C. F. Knott and placed in the Granville County Detention Center.  
June 1
• PSO J. W. Aaron arrested Kevin Auston Price, 23, of Durham, and charged him with possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Price was issued a secured bond of $10,000 by Magistrate C. P. Bostic and placed in the Granville County Detention Center.  
• PSO D. T. George arrested Saniya Almia Bowens, 19, of Durham, for an outstanding order for arrest. Bowens was issued an unsecured bond of $500 by Magistrate R. W. Pearce and was released.  
• PSO J. R. Shelton arrested Daniel Glenn Griffin, 33, of Creedmoor, and charged him with DWI, DWLR, and child abuse. Griffin was issued released to a friend by Magistrate R. W. Pearce.  

Special events and notices
On the second Thursday of every month, Butner Public Safety will host its monthly Community Watch meetings at Butner Town Hall. Butner Public Safety urges the public to attend these meetings to learn vital information pertaining to the safety of their neighborhoods. During each of these meeting’s information such as recent arrests, crimes and safety concerns are addressed to the public. Butner Public Safety also accepts any and all information or concerns from the public so that they can be resolved or addressed. For more information, contact Sgt. N. Williams at 919-575-6561 ext. 111. The next scheduled meeting will be determined at a later date. Butner Public Safety encourages everyone to keep their parked vehicles locked.
