SIMS — Points East Veterinary Specialty Hospital has moved into a new 17,000-square-foot facility at 5702 Grover Lane, a short drive from its previous Wilson location at 4935 Raleigh Road Parkway W.
The practice offers emergency veterinary care along with special surgeries for small animals.
Vice President of Medical Leadership Paige Harrington for parent company Vets Pets, said the new building was designed with pets and their owners in mind. The veterinary hospital offers plenty of elbow room for pets to stretch out their paws.
More than three times larger than its former site, Points East features North Carolina's first veterinary diagnostic CT imaging services east of Raleigh and surgery suites designed for pets with vertebral and spinal trauma. Surgeries for such conditions weren't available at the Raleigh Road Parkway clinic.
Points East is equipped with isolation treatment units for pets with infectious diseases, spaces equivalent to intensive care units in human hospitals. The emergency vet center is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
"We designed our facility with our incredible team in mind," Vets Pets CEO Steve Thomas said in a news release. "With its expansive natural light, comfortable break zones and private office spaces, we are primed to draw top-tier veterinary professionals to eastern N.C."
The building on Grover Lane outside Sims' town limits is located just off the U.S. Highway 264 interchange with U.S. 264 Alternate in Wilson County.
Points East is one of more than 30 Vets Pets veterinary hospitals in North Carolina. The network also operates Wilson Veterinary Hospital outside Elm City, the Nash County Animal Hospital and Benvenue Animal Hospital in Rocky Mount and the Greenville-based Pet Emergency Clinic of Pitt County.
Vets Pets says it partners with veterinarians to create long-term investments in facilities, equipment and people. For more information, visit www.thevetspets.com.
