Knights top Eagles at John Wall

RALEIGH – After a pair of losses to start its stay at the 2022 John Wall Holiday Invitational, the Greenfield School boys basketball team finished its stay at the event on a high note with a 72-63 win over Raleigh Christian in the seventh-place game of the TJ Warren bracket. 

The 2-A Knights of the NCISAA 2-A/3-A Coastal Plain Independents Conference improved to 15-5 on the season in avenging a season-opening loss to the Eagles (9-16). 

Greenfield led the entire game, and pushed its advantage to as much as 19 points in the second half. 

“I’m very proud of my guys today,” said Greenfield head coach Rob Salter. “We played like Greenfield today. We played with a lot of emotion and hunger.” 

Nik Edwards led the Knights with 14 points, followed by Kyshon Atkinson and Hampton Evans with 13 apiece and Kobe Edwards with 10. 

Nick Anthony led Raleigh Christian with 18 points, followed by Jakel Powell with 15. 

The Knights will return to action against CPIC foe John Paul II Catholic on Wednesday, Jan. 4.
