Sydney Coolbaugh proved to be quite an offensive weapon for her Greenfield School varsity girls soccer team last week, making her this week's Farris & Thomas Law Student-Athlete of the Week.
The freshman striker scored seven goals in two games at The Brittany XIX this weekend at Gillette Soccer Complex. Sydney scored three goals and made an assist in the Knights' 4-1 defeat of Northside Jacksonville on Friday, then followed that with four goals in Saturday's 6-1 win over South Lenoir that left Greenfield 4-0.
The daughter of Kelly and Whit Coolbaugh of Wilson, Sydney has a 4.08 GPA at Greenfield, where she is taking Honors courses as part of her workload. Sydney is a member of Fellowship of Christian Athletes at Greenfield and also plays volleyball and basketball for the Knights.
Sydney is active at Peace Church of Wilson and also participants in Young Life, a Christian ministry for adolescents. She and her family provide a foster home for dogs for the Maggie Society.
Sydney plays for the Wilson Youth Soccer Association 2010 Explosion that plays in the U.S. Youth Soccer Association's prestigious National League.
