Circle K to add Krystal, 24 EV charging stations

The Circle K off U.S. Highway 264 on Raleigh Road Parkway is getting some major upgrades with its full renovation, including 24 electric vehicle charging stations and a Krystal restaurant.

Robbie Craft, regional category manager for Circle K, said the 24-vehicle charging station will be the largest supercharging site in North Carolina.

"It's a huge investment into the community," Craft said. "We're the halfway point between New York and Florida, so we felt like this location was suited to adapt to the future."

Along with the charging station, Circle K is bringing the area's only Krystal location to Wilson. According to Krystal's website, the closest existing location is in Gaffney, South Carolina. Krystal is similar to White Castle but operates exclusively in the southeastern United States.

"There are no Krystals in this area of I-95," Craft said. "We've had different opportunities, and we felt adding Krystal at this interstate location would be an asset to guests."

Craft said Krystal will only be available at the Interstate 95 location, 4940 Raleigh Road Parkway W. He said the chain has set a target opening date for the middle of June.

"We've had a lot of people that visit the store that are excited about Krystal's coming," Craft said. "We get lots of social media feedback excited from people about the offering."

Craft said the store will receive a full facelift inside and outside. The store will expand its parking lot, add four fueling locations and install truck scales for trucks coming on or off the highway.

US 301 CIRCLE K REOPENS

Circle K's full-size truck stop on U.S. Highway 301 that was announced in July opened for its first day of operation last week.

"It's great to have that offering to the Wilson community and revitalize that corridor of 301," Craft said. "We're thankful to be a part of that."

That truck stop replaced a regular Circle K store located near the new one at 2928 U.S. Highway 301 S. and includes a 5,200-square-foot building, 14 unleaded gas pumps and six diesel pumps. Circle K's new truck stop was constructed on the former Wayside Motel site.
