Williams named NAC-VI softball player of the year

Wake Forest senior Olivia Williams took home the 4-A Northern Athletic Conference’s top softball honor, being named player of the year after helping the Cougars to a regular season title and fourth round of the NCHSAA 4-A tournament.

Williams had a .547 batting average with 41 hits, 24 RBIs, seven doubles, six triples and five home runs, while maintaining a .987 fielding percentage from behind the plate.



Wakefield junior Dayna Bland was named pitcher of the year. Bland had a 14-5 record, allowing 23 earned runs and striking out 203.

Wake Forest sophomore Jillian Livengood and Wakefield freshman Kensley Harrison were both named rookie of the year.

Livengood struck out 218 of the 360 batters she faced this season, while giving up nine earned runs in over 100 innings of work.

Harrison hit .442 with 24 RBIs and 11 extra base hits.

Wakefield junior Brooke Masingale took home the gold glove with a perfect fielding percentage behind the plate.

Wakefield head coach Danny Inscoe was named coach of the year, leading the Wolverines to a conference tournament title and the program’s best postseason run.
