On May 2, the Millbrook High School girls soccer team took on Heritage for the NAC-6 tournament championship match.

The Wildcats were the regular season conference champions and are now the conference playoff champions.

The Wildcats outscored a goal in the first half, leading 1-0 at the half. In the second half, while Heritage did manage a score, Millbrook had three, taking the 4-1 win.

Katelyn Burnette was instrumental in the victory, scoring three of the Wildcats' four goals and assisting on the fourth. She has been vital to the team's success all season, as she is No. 6 in goals in. division 4A East, No. 180 in North Carolina in goals, and No. 158 in North Carolina in goals. She ranks No. 1 in the NAC-6 in goals and assists, as well as No. 4 in assists.

Abby Champlin scored the other goal, while Jordan Davis and Sydney Spainhour assisted on Burnette's three, with Davis having two assists.

In the box for Millbrook was Lauren Hollis, who goaltended for all 80 minutes, saving seven of the eight Heritage shots on goal. This is a continuation of her success throughout this season, ranking No. 63 in goals against average and in the top 225 in the nation.

The Wildcats celebrated their victory with a bold statement on their Instagram, declaring, " We got them huskies on a leash😂calm dog walk this afternoon ."

Millbrook now looks towards post-conference playoffs as they prepare to face Panther Creek on May 8 at 6:30 p.m. The Catamounts enter the game with a 5-12 record.
