Seeing the care provided by her own mother inspired Anita Holloway to become a nurse and help people.

Holloway recently celebrated the second anniversary of establishing Heavenly Care Home in Rolesville.

Holloway said that when she was growing up in Baltimore, Maryland, she watched her mother -- a nurse -- care for her father as he faxced prostate cancer.

"I said, 'this is what I want to do -- I want to help,'" Holloway recalled during a recent interview.

She has worked in care homes in Wake, Durham and Orange counties for 14 years. She has worked her way up to being a care home owner and administrator and is pursuing a degree in nursing with a goal of becoming a registered nurse.

"I love it," Holloway said. "I love working with my seniors."

Holloway said her goal is to continue opening care homes in the Triangle, including a medical care home and a Hospice care home.

"I want to open up more opportunities for our seniors that will help them," she said.

Heavenly Care Home opened in January 2023 with five residents.

The staff at Heavenly Care Home, in addition to Holloway, includes Chaborgan Lee, house manager; Wilbert Stewart, med tech; Detria Denison, med tech supervisor; Michelle King, med tech supervisor; and Kenyetta Regis, patient care assistant.

Holloway said she is proud of her team because they are attentive to residents and provide great personal care.

"What makes Heavenly is the team," Holloway said. "My team is amazing."

She said residents enjoy a variety of activities.

"I feel like everybody deserves care," Holloway said.
