WAKE FOREST — Five members of the Girl Scouts Wake Forest Girl Scout Cadette Troop 4575 will complete a mural Sunday, Sept. 24 on the outside of Lumpy’s Ice Cream as part of their Silver Award Project.
The mural, which will be a painting of the globe on an ice cream cone, is part of the scouts’ efforts to educate the public on the need for recycling and environmental awareness in town.
The scouts have worked on planning the mural over the past year and have designed an accompanying educational brochure on the importance of recycling and maintaining a healthy environment.
The Girl Scouts involved include Daisy Briones, Lana Clayton and Brynn Hill of Wake Forest and Emma Nash and Alex Potter of Raleigh. Each of the scouts has been involved with the troop for the past 10 years, a news release says.
The owners of Lumpy’s Ice Cream donated their wall for the mural.
