MIDDLE SCHOOL ROUNDUP: Tigers lock down Pantego 49-3

Defense was the ticket for the Wilson Prep girls basketball team with a 49-3 victory over Pantego Middle on Monday.

Amayah Barnes led the Tigers (2-0) with 30 points, 10 steals and five rebounds while Paris Best posted eight points, six rebounds, six steals and five assists. Nakia Boston totaled seven rebounds, six points and six steals while Enza Russo chipped in five steals and four points.

“Defense is what we preach and tonight it showed,” said WPA head coach Josh Dixon. “Proud of the energy and effort of the girls.”

Wilson Prep continues a busy early season schedule Tuesday at 4 p.m. at Grace Middle in Raleigh.

Knights sweep RMA

Greenfield School swept Rocky Mount Academy in girls and boys basketball games Monday.

Behind 13 points and six steals from Sydney Coolbaugh, the Knight girls eased past RMA 27-19. Grace Bradley added eight points for Greenfield.

The Knights raced past the Eagles 39-19 in the boys game. John Dean tossed in seven points while Addison Wall and Grayson Coulter scored six each.
