Oneita Cooke Aiken

 

 

Creedmoor — Surrounded by her loving family, Oneita Cooke Aiken, 94 passed away at home on August 22, 2021. Oneita was born in Durham and graduated from Durham High School Class of 1944. She moved to Creedmoor, NC with her loving husband, Baxter in 1945.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 68 years, Oliver Baxter Aiken, her parents Alvin Moody Cooke and Maggie Vickers Cooke and her 8 siblings, Rosa Latta (Sam), Blanche Pierce (B.K.), Edythe Brogden (Phillip), Margie Garrett (J.T.), Brodie Cooke (Nannie), Bryant Cooke, (Elizabeth), Joe Cooke (Irene), J. B. Cooke (Doris) as well as her daughter in law, Melodye Haskins Aiken.

Survived by two children, Baxter Wayne Aiken (Kim), Gina Aiken Parham (Ronald), and three granddaughters Bridget Parham, Courtney Aiken and Brooke Aiken as well as many nieces and nephews.

Oneita spent her working career in banking and retired from CCB in December of 1985. She was a member of Creedmoor United Methodist Church.

The family also gives thanks to her first caregivers, Jane Rhew, Margaret Lee, Daisy Williams and her final caregivers, Linda Hunt, Dorenda Locklear, Gail Oxendine and Amedisys Hospice Care of Franklinton.

Arrangements are being made with www.NationalCremation.com and per Oneita’s request a private graveside service will be held at a later date. There will be no formal visitation.
