Wilson County has a new tax administrator who started the post on Wednesday.
Crawford Bolton, previously the county’s assistant tax administrator, replaced William “Witt” Putney, who was in the role for nearly two years.
“I am excited and look forward to this opportunity to serve the citizens of Wilson County,” Bolton said. “It’s been a privilege to work and grow here over the last few years. We have some of the best staff in North Carolina.”
Bolton has been the county’s assistant tax administrator since 2018. He has a bachelor’s degree in business administration and human resource management from the University of Mount Olive. He also holds the county real property appraiser III, county personal property appraiser I, county assessor and certified deputy tax collector certifications and the International Association of Assessing Officers professional designation as a residential evaluation specialist.
“We are delighted to promote one of our very own tax department professionals into the administrator position,” said Wilson County Manager Denise Stinagle. “Crawford has been a vital part of the leadership for the tax department in recent years. His knowledge of our properties and tax base in Wilson County, along with his professional skills, will continue to move our tax administration forward.”
