Pedestrian struck, injured on Raleigh Road Parkway



A pedestrian is in critical condition after being struck by a vehicle on Raleigh Road Parkway on Sunday.

Wilson Police, Wilson Fire/Rescue Services and Wilson County EMS responded to the 1700 block of Raleigh Road Parkway at 6 p.m, said Wilson Police Capt. Eric Smith. The pedestrian suffered a severe head wound and was transported by helicopter to Vidant Medical Center. 



The driver of the vehicle wasn’t hurt, police said. Names are being withheld pending notification of family. 

Wilson Police Strategic Traffic Enforcement Patrol Team officers were called to assist the investigation. The five-lane highway was closed while police investigated.
