Deputies: Wife shoots husband in chest

ELM CITY — Sheriff’s deputies have charged a woman with shooting her husband Tuesday night.

Vicky Murray Bissette

Vicky Murray Bissette, 58, of Elm City, is charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, according to a Chief of Staff Wanda Samuel of the Wilson County Sheriff’s Office.

Samuel said deputies were dispatched to a shots-fired call shortly after 11 p.m. at 5119 Pridgen Road, which is off London Church Road west of Elm City.

“When deputies arrived on the scene, they were approached by the caller, who stated that she had shot her husband,” Samuel said, noting that Bissette reported the shooting.

Authorities identified the victim as Salah Wahda Elehmeada.

Samuel said Elehmeada suffered one gunshot wound to the chest area.

Deputies found Elehmeada inside the home and provided first aid until Wilson County EMS personnel arrived. Samuel said Elehmeada was alert and able to speak.

Samuel said the shooting followed a domestic dispute between Elehmeada and Bissette.

“We are praying that he will make a full recovery,” she said.

Bissette owns the 5119 Pridgen Road home, according to Wilson County tax records.

Deputies arrested Bissette on the assault charge and brought her before a magistrate. Bissette was jailed without bond under a domestic violence hold. After making her first court appearance, Bissette posted a $50,000 bond and was released from the Wilson County Detention Center.
